Wednesday July 6th, 2011 Digital LA – SAG New Media: Monetize Your Content panel @ SAG HQ – Digital LA and SAG New Media present a panel of experts discussing how to monetize digital content (web series, YouTube videos, blog, etc.) – geared toward content creators. Panelists will cover: branded content, sponsorships, advertising, online distribution deals and more. We’ll discuss pros and cons of these models and provide insights helpful for determining which fits best for your content.

Thursday July 7th, 2011 – LA CEOs – LA CEOs, an education and support group for CEOs presents: New Media Training. The good news is the new media is unfiltered. You can communicate directly to stakeholders and the public at large in a variety of ways to ensure your message is conveyed the way you want. The power of a video of you speaking or your own words in a blog introducing your product, service, a key event is tremendous and every CEO should leverage it.

Thursday July 14th, 2011 – Spotlight: LA Tech SummerTechZulu and The California Institute of Technology (CalTech) are pleased to announce Spotlight: LA Tech Summer. Spotlight: LA Tech is part of a quarterly demo series that will highlight the finest technology entrepreneurship in Southern California. We’re looking for companies with new technology to demonstrate (or better yet, those with upcoming launches they wish to promote among savvy peers).

Thurday July 14th, 2011 – Green Business Workshop – The Small Business Dream Center is sponsoring a screening and workshop for the Green Business Documentary ‘So Right, So smart’.

Monday July 18th, 2011 Digital LA – Digital Comics Panel @ Meltdown – We’re getting together digital comics experts to discuss digital and comics, from iPad apps to digital distribution and digital brand extension, etc. for our third annual pre-Comic-Con panel.

Tuesday July 19th, 2011 – LAPHP/LAMySQL Talk: Securing Open-Source Databases in the Cloud – “Los Angeles PHP Developers Group (LAPHP) is a vibrant community of like-minded web developers who are working with or interested in PHP and related technologies.  We are meeting regularly at least once a month for high level talks on the technology topics and to mingle and network together with fellow web developers, technical managers, web entrepreneurs and recruiters.”

Saturday August 6th, 2011 – API Hack Day LA – API Hack Day brings developers together for an all-day coding fest focused on building apps and mashups with APIs. Developers of all experience levels can share ideas, collaborate on existing projects, start new ventures, and find out about great tools and new APIs to play with.

Friday August 19th, 2011 – Biz 2 Beach – Biz2Beach 2011 is an inaugural networking conference of thought leaders, innovators, and trendsetters for an exciting day of exchanging ideas. It takes place on Friday, August 19 in Santa Monica, CA.

August 19th-21st, 2011 – LA Startup Weekend – Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable.  On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
